Pre-CanSkate & CanSkate
About our Programs
Our Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate programs will run on Thursday nights from October 11th, 2018 through to March 21st, 2019. Pre-CanSkate will run from 6:15pm-6:45pm. CanSkate will run from 6:05pm-6:45pm. We have five Skate Canada coaches who are on the ice with the skaters, as well as some fabulous program assistants who are some of our Pre-Elite and Senior skaters that volunteer their time. Skate Canada has six levels that your child can work through, and each level is broken up into balance, agility and control skills. The focus of these programs is to provide an active learning environment, so your child would participate in a variety of circuits and activities every night that include the skills that they would be working on.
If you have any questions about either of these programs, please contact our CanSkate Coordinator, Kirsten Argue, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What will you learn?
A complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster.
What can you expect?
Action, movement and fun! Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Badges, ribbons and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort and participation.
